What tourists should do in Odessa

Lots of articles are written about Odessa. It is probably the most popular tourist destination in Ukraine: people come here to bathe in the sea and dance in discos. We decided to look at the trip to this city from a new angle. In the article we will tell you how you can benefit from traveling to Odessa in the low season.

Hotels and Hostels

Odessa has several five-star hotels, which are not inferior to European and American counterparts (Kadorr Hotel Resort & Spa, Nemo Hotel Resort & Spa, Il Decameron Luxury Design Hotel, M1 Club Hotel and others). In these places for a room for two people will have to pay $ 100-150 per night. You can choose a more modest hotels or apartments. Or get cheaper: stay in a hostel. Attractions in Odessa

Everyone has heard about Deribasovskaya Street, Potemkin Stairs and Primorsky Boulevard. They are certainly worth your attention. But they are not the only places of interest in Odessa. We will not talk about all the interesting places - there are so many. Let us mention only some of them.

  • Privoz. It is known as the famous grocery market, which is rightly considered the hallmark of the city. Today it consists of several modern buildings (meat, fish, dairy), as well as fruit and clothing markets. Why shop here? Because it's cheap, high quality and fun. You can gossip with the vendors and exchange news with other shoppers. How to get there? On foot, by streetcar, by bus or by bus. As the residents of Odessa say, all roads lead to Privoz.
  • Odessa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. If you find yourself in the city in the fall or winter, visit one of the many shows. The theater's repertoire is filled with opera performances, ballet productions and concert programs.   • Odessa cable car. The road connects the French Boulevard and the coast, Otrada Beach. Last time it was upgraded in 2020. It is equipped with modern canopies and fences, and there is an electronic control system. You can take a ride from April till October from 08-00 to 20-00 for 60 UAH ($6.5).

Cafes, restaurants and bars

  • Panorama Restaurant in the 5-star Nemo Hotel Resort & Spa. It is located on the terrace of the 6th floor and under the dome of the 7th floor. This restaurant has the best view of the Black Sea and the coast. Exquisite European and Japanese dishes are served here. There is a vegetarian menu. As for prices, eggs Benedict for breakfast costs 220 UAH, and cheesecakes with honey and sour cream are 180 UAH. Dinner is more expensive: grilled scallops for 520 UAH and Nemo cutlets (salmon, tiger shrimps and crab) for 380 UAH.
  • Cafe Vienna Sausages is located on the corner of Deribasovskaya Street and Havanskaya Street. It makes the best hot dogs in the city, and at a very reasonable price. Offered several versions of hot dogs to choose from, there are many different sauces and additives.
